And we’re off!

EverMind has now launched with a variety of psychotherapy styles offered by a very special and diverse team of psychotherapists…and we have plenty of room for more!

Like us human beings, psychotherapy comes in all shapes and sizes, and as we (softly) launch into our trial period, EverMind will be offering a whole chocolate box of assorted therapeutic methods for our clients to choose from, the kind of chocolate that makes you feel better the more you have!

Here is a brief introduction to the services offered by our skilled, often multi-talented, multi-lingual, psychotherapists who will be kick starting EverMind’s mission to bring diverse and affordable therapy to everyone who needs it, through this period of pandemic pandemonium, and beyond.

Firstly, let’s get back to basics:

What actually is psychotherapy?

The word “psycho-therapy” is made up of psycho — which comes from the Ancient Greek word “psyche” meaning spirit or soul — and therapy which comes from the Ancient Greek word, “therapeia” which means “healing, or medical treatment”. Therefore “psychotherapy”, can literally be translated as “healing of the spirit or soul”, nice eh? However, nowadays psyche has become synonymous with “mind” so we can understand psychotherapy to mean: healing, or medical treatment, of the mind. Yes please!

Psychotherapy can also be called talk therapy, which directly describes how it traditionally involves discussing troubling thoughts, emotions and situations with a psychotherapist so they can support people to problem solve, alleviate psychological distress, and generally help them to live their best lives.

Psychotherapy helps people to understand and change the thoughts, emotions and behaviours that contribute to their life problems, or mental illness. It can also help people cope with specific events like major illness, the death of a loved one, a stressful job, or relationship issues by teaching people coping techniques, problem solving skills and ways to enjoy life and feel good about themselves.

Who can benefit from psychotherapy?

Everyone!

At EverMind, we truly believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to deal with their psychological problems properly, without shame or guilt and with total support. However big or small, occasional, or constant, problems can sometimes become overwhelming when grappling with them alone. A psychotherapist can guide you through challenging times as well as through ongoing psychological issues with expert advice and total compassion.

Plus, because we are all individuals with different needs and preferences, there are many different types of therapy practiced by a diverse cohort of psychotherapists, there will always be something, somehow and someone for everyone, and EverMind would like to help find the right person and therapy for you.

Which type of therapy is for me?

Psychotherapists may specialise in a specific method or a variety of methods so when choosing your therapist, have a look at which therapies are included in their profile and see if they fit what you are looking for. There are so many different therapeutic methods it can be hard to know where to start! So we thought we’d help by providing a mini “dictionary” to give you the feel of what’s on offer at EverMind.

In the beginning and beyond!

We are already excited to start our journey with an amazing cohort of psychotherapists, and as the project continues, we will be welcoming more and more clients and therapists all the time to keep expanding in diversity of methods and treatments as well as cultures and languages. It’s time to discover how to, and who can, help you to heal your mind.

Check out our mini guide on our website for what’s on offer, and look out for more posts from EverMind as we continue to explore Ever inspiring ways to heal the Mind.
